Oca
We first came across these tasty lemony, potato-like tubers several years ago at a Farmers Market. We were told they were called oca and we only came across them a handful of times over the next few years (although we did have some success with propagating them by planting whole tubers in a pot).
We were delighted today when we saw them at the fruit & veg shop being sold as 'yams'. It seems that they're also called oka, okka, or New Zealand yams. We're going to have to have a proper go at growing them. They are delish just roasted whole. I bet they'd also be yummy turned into a mash or a potato salad style dish.
